If you’re looking for a speaker who is an inspiration to people of all ages, is passionate about life’s adventures and motivates others to seize the day then you are in the right place.
Jan Meek is an unlikely adventurer who can proudly claim to be the only woman on the planet to have rowed across an ocean and walked to two poles. There are more people who have taken that giant leap for mankind on the moon. Sceptical? Jan has three Guinness World Records to prove it.
After experiencing a rich and varied life filled with remarkable experiences and incredible challenges, Jan continues to defy the odds with her adventures.
When Jan was 52 her son Dan Byles talked her into rowing with him 3,044 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean in a 23 foot wood built rowing boat. They were competing in the first Transatlantic race for ocean rowers from the Canary Islands to Barbados. Ten years later she challenged him to join her in the first 350 nautical mile race to the Magnetic North Pole. Not one to rest on her laurels, the following year she was part of a scientific expedition to the Geographic North Pole. She has since tackled Mount Kilimanjaro and trekked to Everest Base Camp, narrowly avoiding the deadly avalanche that struck in 2014.
As she prepares for her trek to the South Pole, Jan now dedicates her life to motivating others to achieve goals they never dreamed of being possible, inspiring people regardless of their age, gender or size through her public speaking and fundraising for charity.
